We demand fair pay at Community First Bank

Since Community First and Illawarra Credit Union merged, workers doing comparable roles have continued to be paid different rates. We’re calling on CEO Anthony Perkiss to fix the pay gap and deliver a fair pay offer for all workers.

Dear Anthony Perkiss, CEO, Community First Bank

CFB workers are calling on you to address a serious problem at Community First Bank.

CFB workers are being paid less than their ICU colleagues for doing the same job. The minimum salary rate for a Contact Centre Banking Specialist at CFB is 13% lower than at ICU. For a Store Banking Specialist, the minimum rate at CFB is 16% lower than at ICU.

Same job, same skills, same day-to-day work – but different pay.

A merger isn’t just a name change – it means every worker being treated, and paid, as part of the same organisation.

This needs to be fixed before any Enterprise Agreement is reached – not folded into a broader offer or left for later. It also needs to be backdated to September 2025, when the merger occurred.

We’re calling on you to:
  • Address the pay disparity between former Community First Credit Union and former Illawarra Credit Union workers.
  • Provide workers with a fair pay increase of 5% a year, or CPI, whichever is greater.
Every day, we deliver the service that makes CFB “banking’s best kept secret” – and it’s time that was reflected in how we are paid and looked after.

If you want one bank, pay it like one bank.
